Nature Festival
Nature Festival is a wonderful thing. A weeks-long, open-access festival with events — many of them free — right across the state, all in the service of cultivating the community’s love of nature. We’re now in our sixth year of working with them, but 2020 was where it all began.
Remarkably, for a year where most of us were locked up inside, this celebration of the outdoors refused to be quarantined. Turns out it was exactly what people needed.
We created the Nature Festival brand suite — a set of abstract shapes representing sky, ocean, hills and rocks depending on the colours used. The festival look has evolved over the years but the logo persists, and we’re still helping with their marketing today — supporting the healthy growth of the nicest festival in the Festival State.
COVID
Yes, 2020 was the year we all went to work from home.
It took some adjusting, even though we were already Zoom natives running regular webinars on nonprofit marketing and branding. But we settled in quickly, got comfortable, and we’re still working from home today. We sublet the studio and slowly migrated away from the inner suburbs — out to the hills, the beach, the regions, interstate, even avoiding international quarantine rules to escape overseas.
What was a challenging year for many was pretty cosy for Freerange. There aren’t so many hero projects to look back on from 2020, but Jobkeeper kept us fed and a lot of interesting work started that year. You’ll see it show up in 2021.
