Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation

This was the year we started working with the WCH Foundation and, great joy, we’re still working with them today. In the time we’ve been collaborating, they’ve touched the lives of tens of thousands of children and their families — a generation of young people in our state.

We started off redeveloping their website with a brand refresh to support it. They had an ambitious goal: to become South Australia’s most digitally effective fundraising organisation. They definitely saw which way the wind was blowing, and set their sails to catch it. Nine successful years later we’ve just revamped that site. In between, we helped with many fundraising initiatives, including the custom build of the WCH Foundation Lottery.

History Trust of South Australia

Another big focus for us in 2017 was the History Trust. We made websites for all three Ms — the Motor, Maritime and Migration Museums — as well as for the History Trust themselves.

The really fun part was the campaign we created to go with it. We were asked to develop a concept that resonated with adults and children alike, so we created three collage characters made up entirely of items from each museum’s collections. These cheeky faces told stories of our state’s history, adorning buses, adshels and brochures all over the place. Girt by stories indeed.

We Moved to Hindley St

After a couple of years in a tiny fishbowl inside a vibrant co-working Hub, we decided we needed more spaaaace. So we moved down the street, into the top-floor loft at 110 Hindley — the old Arts SA digs. It was fifteen times bigger than the fishbowl.

A coat of brand yellow paint and some new furniture later, we’d reached peak Freerange studio. Along with the bigger and better work we were doing, many wonderful workshops and pulsating parties (hi Wayne!) were had there. Until March 2020.

Indie Joins the Team

2017 was also the year that Indie became a Freeranger. At Alicia’s recommendation we brought her into the family and Freerange was never the same again. Ace designer with a turbo button, hilarious new story slash rant every day.
