Many of the homes being built only achieve the bare minimum energy efficiency and thermal comfort standards \u2013 not ideal in a warming world.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023 we began a multi-year project with three local councils \u2014 Mount Barker, Alexandrina and Light. We mystery-shopped display homes, interviewed builders and architects and ran focus groups with new home buyers at different stages of the building cycle. The communications campaign we developed is peer-to-peer \u2014 real stories from local people who built smarter homes, to maximise comfort, reduce long-term costs and create a better future for everyone. The stories are shared in videos, digital ads, social media and concise, accessible resources.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2023 this long-running campaign has grown from three to seven councils and reached over two million people. The stories we&#8217;ve shared have inspired people and demystified sustainable homes.
